Expecting Parents

Expecting Parents

Congratulations! We are so excited for your bundle of joy!

We hope this page helps you learn more about our practice and know what to expect from our providers!

Prenatal Visits

We offer complimentary prenatal visits, during which you can tour our offices, meet our staff and providers, and have all your individual questions answered!

Expert, Thorough, Dedicated Care

Our providers are experts on newborn and infant care! All of our providers are board-certified. Several of them serve as instructors at the Baby Care Basics courses held at Calvert Health Medical Center. Our physicians will typically come to the nursery at Calvert Health Medical Center to examine your newborn every day that you are admitted (note: during the COVID-19 pandemic, this may not always be the case as we try to limit exposures to new babies, so if we are unable to come to see your newborn, there will be a pediatric hospitalist who will examine your baby in the hospital). We accept newborns delivered at short-stay midwifery centers and perform newborn screens (PKU testing) in-office as well as help arrange for your infant's hearing screen.

Convenient Locations and Hours

We offer both evening and Saturday hours with two convenient locations to serve you and your families: Prince Frederick and Dunkirk, Maryland. You are going to have nearly 10 appointments during your child's first year of life, so we want these visits to be as convenient as possible!

Same-Day Sick Visits

When your child is sick, the last thing you want to do is have to wait in the ER or Urgent Care. If your child is sick, please call our office for a same-day sick appointment, and we will try our best to get them in to be seen as soon as we can!

Lactation Support

In addition to your newborn's well checks, we offer lactation consultation visits in our office.

Televisit Appointments

We offer Telemedicine visits (HIPPA compliant Videochatting). Sometimes, you just need us to take a look at a rash, or discuss medications, but don't have time to come into the office. Not a problem - contact our front desk to arrange for a telemedicine visit!

Social Media Savvy Docs

Our pediatricians post regularly on our Facebook and Instagram pages @DrMehtaPediatrics. Check them out for tips on things like preventing bug bites and our favorite sunscreens!

Convenient Scheduling and Record Access

Access your medical records through our patient portal. Confirm or cancel your appointments through the text message you will receive approximately 1 day prior to your appointment.

Vaccination Policy

We firmly believe in the effectiveness of vaccines for preventing serious and potentially deadly illness. Vaccines save lives. Vaccinating children may be the single most important thing you as a parent can do to protect your child's health.

We require that all children receive the set of vaccinations required for school entry in Maryland Public Schools, and highly recommend other vaccinations that are not required for school. We also believe that all children and adults should receive the recommended vaccines according to the schedule published by the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics. However, we will work with parents on a case-by-case basis to develop an alternative vaccination schedule, within reason, should this be what you prefer for your children.

Bottom line: We'll work with you on an alternative schedule (within reason) but your child should receive all of the school-required vaccinations.

We encourage you to research vaccine efficacy and production on trusted websites. You are always welcome to ask our providers vaccine-related questions. You can find excellent information on vaccine safety here:

American Academy of Pediatrics - Dedicated to the health of all children. This website provides reliable and authoritative advice on a variety of child health issues, including immunizations.
